Class Expectations

In order to be successful in English 1a you will have to complete two portfolios. A portfolio is essentially a place to showcase and reflect on your final work. In order to get to your final work, you will need to process through multiple drafts. This is the work we will do throughout the semester.   The portfolios include many processed essays, we will bring those essays through multiple drafts and workshops. 

It is essential that you understand that this course is the 1st year writing course for college and when you leave this class you should be able to handle writing for college assignments. My goal for this class is that you feel comfortable with larger essays and that you know the step-by-step process of writing. My focus for this class is building the writer in you! 

Therefore, my philosophy is that I guide you through writing practices that get increasingly more challenging to build your writing capacity. I feel compelled to help you feel confident as a writer in multiple scenarios and for multiple purposes.
