Students have an AR folder with their goal and log sheet. Each time a student has finished reading an AR book, he/she should complete 1 reading log. Then, please get this log signed by Mrs. Eveleth.
Students can check out AR books at school from the school library.
Students can check out AR books from public libraries.
Students can log on Accelerated Reader at school to take an AR test. If a student passes an AR test the first time with 80% or better, that test counts. If a student does not pass an AR test the first time, he/she gets another chance to pass with 80% or better. If they pass a second time, the test counts. If they do NOT pass with 80% or better, the test will be deleted from their record.
There will be certain report requirements for different quarters for students to complete in AR.
Rubric for AR book report:
Checklist for written book report (Due Wed., March 25th) . This was the original due date and rubric. When students complete this, they can type it in Google Docs and share their report with their teacher.
_____ (20) Report is written effectively with details that support the main idea. Report also follows the somebody wants, but, so, then…pattern of writing. Length of report needs to be at least 1 page long.
_____ (4) Report begins with the title and author of the book included in the first sentence or two. A “hook” is used to capture the reader’s interest.
_____ (2) Report ends with a short paragraph telling if you would recommend the book to a classmate and why or why not.
_____ (4) Writing skills are used appropriately, including spelling, punctuation, capitalization, usage, indenting, and neatness.
