There isn't anything I'm more grateful for than my friends. Now more than ever, I find myself enjoying every minute I'm socializing with them, whether by dragging them out for photoshoots in the cold or just talking over the phone. I figured there wasn't a better way to showcase the former than by showcasing my favourite picture from our last photoshoot.

Once a month I get a scoop of ice cream with a friend and we catch up about school and life in general. I look forward to this date every month and I'm grateful for the ability to support a local ice cream shop, and spend time with a friend. Depending on weather and COVID restrictions, we sometimes will go on a walk with our scoops in the cold weather, but we always make it happen and I'm grateful for that.

I am grateful that we live in a beautiful province and have opportunities to explore it! I am so grateful to have landscapes, such as the Rockies, in our backyard. There is nothing better than exploring the great outdoors and there are so many ways to do so, such as snowshoeing! So what are you waiting for? Get exploring!

This image is part of a series exploring relationships and the bonds we form with other people. The series primarily depicts people (friends of the photographer) enjoying the simpler acts of companionship we all experience - such as enjoying a nice conversation or, as seen here, a game of Monopoly between friends. There are many things which I appreciate in life but in times as uncertain as these it is the people I know that I am most grateful for.

I took this photo on one of my walks in Laurier on a very chilly - 30 day. It still felt good to be outside because of that amazing blue sky and white thread clouds. Not all cities can count on blue skies, the way that prairie cities like Edmonton and Winnipeg can. Blue skies make us happy. To borrow the lyrics from a Willie Nelson song: “ Blue skies smilin’ at me, nothin but blue skies do I see”.

This candid moment we caught over the holidays in 2021 featuring our dogs, Zoe and Duke. It reminds me to love unconditionally, just like these dogs do. It also makes me smile because of the silly bandana around Mr. Duke.

A few years ago, I had the good fortune to visit Abraham Lake on a clear day, with a beautiful sunrise. I was amazed at the bubbles and in the otherwise clear lake that was frozen several feet thick. I am grateful to live in a beautiful province where we can drive a few hours to such fantastic wonders such as the bubbles in Abraham Lake.

During the pandemic, my family adventured outside and explored our community much more than we had in the past. I look at this picture and I'm transported to the river valley to throw rocks in the water, pick up colourful leaves, have a picnic, and take in the sights and scents of the fall.
