There are three layers to your employment evaluations: (1) Self Evaluation; (2) Student Evaluation; and, (3) an annual performance evaluation that is a summative report by the Dean (informed by each member's self-evaluation and commentary for the chair). The Collective Agreement denotes evaluations under Articles 9 and 11. The Faculty tab on myPortal houses access to student evaluations, an eCV, and resource materials including the dossier guidebook.
Ongoing professional development (PD) opportunities can be accessed through TLS or by attending teaching conferences. Professional Development associated with research might happen within your own field, through workshops and other supports in Research Services as well as opportunities for training on or off campus. However you engage in PD, you should record it for your annual report and for your professional dossier.
Dossiers are a key document for tenure-track faculty for the tenure and promotion processes, but building a dossier is important for anyone applying for an award or applying for a faculty position. If you need assistance with your dossier, we have various resources available, including a comprehensive guidebook (click here to view the guidebook). You can also book a meeting with the Faculty Career Development Manager, who will be able to provide guidance about dossiers.

The Tenure and Promotion process is less frequent than the annual report process, but requires a more comprehensive dossier to be created. New tenure-track faculty can expect to put together a dossier for extension of probation in 2 years, then for tenure after 4 years, and promotion is generally after at least 5 years or whenever you feel your record of accomplishments is strong enough for promotion.
