Professor Kelly MacGregor

My academic area of expertise is glacial geomorphology of alpine systems, with a focus on how temperate glaciers erode and shape mountainous landscapes. In addition to glaciologic field work and numerical modeling studies, I work with alpine lake sediment cores to investigate geomorphic and environmental change since the last continental glaciation. I am also conducting research with an interdisciplinary team of ecologists and engineers examining feedbacks between sediment transport and native mussel populations in Minnesota rivers.

My teaching spans earth science, physical geography and environmental science, with an emphasis on quantitative understanding of modern earth surface processes. I am intrigued by human interactions with (and impacts on) the physical world around us, and hope to empower students with knowledge to address complex environmental questions in our modern world.
