Can I Use This?

While nearly everything that happens at Macalester College  can be connected to teaching and learning, under copyright law, certain exemptions such as the Classroom Use Exemption (17 U.S.C. §110(1)) only apply in a classroom ("or similar place devoted to instruction"), for people who are there in person, engaged in face-to-face teaching activities, and it only addresses display or performance, not making copies.  Much of the time, we are relying on Fair Use (17 U.S.C. §107) for our analysis.
