I am currently gearing up to do work at UCSF over the summer which I am really excited for! I will be shadowing in on appointments with Parkinson's disease patients, hopefully overseeing how DBS is monitored and finally working with the DBS Connect team to look at data! We have the poster session today which I am really excited for and I think it will go very well!

I went into the Clinic at UCSF and got to shadow Jill for the day. It was so interesting getting to see the variety of patients based on their ages, symptoms, length of having PD and wether they had DBS or not. It was helpful seeing the patients in person and actually being able to see how the symptoms effect them and how to test them for PD symptoms

I just started my senior year, which mean my MARC project will be picking up speed. I am really excited to connect with my mentor again and create a gameplan for data collection during the first semester of senior year. I am hoping to meet my mentor sometime this month and hopefully go into UCSF a couple times more to meet with the DBS Connect team.

I just got my hands on the data from the DBS Connect database and I have started to look through the data and run various statistical tests on it. I met with Kevin to help me look at the data a bit and give me some tips on the best ways to analyze the data. I am now trying to get comfortable with some statistical platforms.

There have been a few errors in the data along the way, but now I have my hands on a set of data that has been checked many times and I have started to analyze this set. I have also begun writing my introduction for my research paper which the rough draft is due next week.
