This article highlights some of the effects cannabinoid treatments have had on Parkinson's disease. This article was helpful for me because if gave a general overview of research done with cannabinoids relating to Parkinson's and gave a starting off point to base my hypothesis off of.
This article was very helpful in understanding the endocannabinoid system and drawing connections between how human endocannabinoid systems worked and how photocannabinoids mimiced endocannabinoids but were slightly altered.
This article talks more broadly about how Parkinson's relates to the Basal Ganglia and Substantia Nigra, and presents possible theories of progression of the disease. This was helpful in giving me basic knowledge about how the disease effects the body, which I could then use to tie the ECS's role the Basal Ganglia to Parkinson's
This article is what allowed me to come to the hypothesis that THC and CBD would produce an anti-inflammatory effect. The neuroprotective effect is what I am trying to replicate in my cells. Hopefully, I will be able to find if the chemicals effects neuro protection in comparison to just CBD and just THC if the experiment goes similarly to this paper.
