I have always had an interest in science, and when I heard about the MARC program and about doing your own independent research, I was immediately interested. Pursuing a scientific project that was self driven and had my interests at the core really intrigued me, and ultimately made me apply and join MARC.
Outside fo MARC, I am also an involved member of the MA community. I lead the school's Model UN Club, Women of Color affinity group, and Unicef club, all of which have helped strengthen my leadership skills. I also play on the school's JV soccer team, which has allowed me to develop teamwork skills. Finally, I also pursue my passions on campus, having been in the Marin Academy Dance Company for 3 years.
My main interest in Parkinson's came from my grandmother, who has the disease. I was curious to learn more about how it affected her and what was being done to treat the disease. I am ultimately doing this project because I'm passionate about it, however, I also want to try publishing some of my findings and maybe even entering the project into a science fair. I want to pursue research in college as well, and I hope to continue learning more about the research process as enter college
