BACKGROUND
There are 2.1 million people in the USA suffering from limb loss. There is one amputation every 30 seconds. These statistics make it very clear that economically accessible prosthesis are needed in society. I hope to achieve this through making prosthesis that can be 3D-printed. A $700 million industry currently, 3D printing is expected to grow into an $8.9 billion industry. Out of this $8.9 billion, $1.9 billion (or 21%) is projected to be spent on medical applications.(2)
