Today, I met with Andrea. I presented my draft of our poster presentation, and together, we are going to edit it to submit it on March 13. I have finished the results section and am moving onto the discussion section.
Today, I shadowed Dr. Ostrem in her movement disorder clinic at UCSF. I met with 6 patients, some of whom had PD and some who had dystonia. I saw botox injections to help reduce tremors in patients and the programming of a new DBS device in a patient!
Today, Andrea and I had our two-week meeting. I finished and submitted my Stanford High School Neuroscience Virtual Forum presentation. I am now working on finishing the results section and making the first draft of our presentation for the AAN meeting.
Today, Andrea and I had our two-week meeting. We went over a partial draft of the results section, and I am continuing to work on my application for the Stanford High School Neuroscience Virtual Forum!
Today, I found out our research was accepted, and we will be presenting at the American Academy of Neurology conference in Denver on April 14, 2024. Our next steps is to work on the poster presentation.
Today, Andrea and I had our two-week meeting. We have finished our introduction and now are moving onto the results section. We are finalizing our data tables and creating graphs. Additionally, I'm working on my application for the Stanford Highschool Neuroscience Virtural Forum!
Today, Andrea and I had our two-week meeting. We continued organizing our results and creating graphs and tables. I am also continuing to write the introduction.
Today, Andrea and I met for our two-week meeting. We started to organize the data set and calculate data for our results sections. I finished the outline for the introduction and we are starting to write it.

Today, Andrea and I submitted the abstract of our paper to the American Academy of Neurology!
Today, I went into Dr. Ostrem's clinic and shadowed her as she worked with patients. I observed DBS programming and botox injections. I learned about the effectiveness of botox for neurodegenerative diseases.
Today, I met with both of my mentors and presented my presentation on disparties in access to DBS. We also analyzed the Medtronic data!
Today, I met with both my mentors, and we brought everyone up to speed. We talk about analyzing the Medtronic data and the literature review. We are planning to compare the findings from both projects in the end.
Today, I met with my mentor, Dr. Ostrem, and we discussed our goals for the project. I will synthesize my findings from the research I reviewed into a detailed literature review and presentation that I will give to my class. We also talked about the Medtronic data and our plans for the analysis.
Today, I met with Dr. Fuentes and we discussed findings from the research papers we reviewed. I am starting to put all the information from the papers into a presentation.
During this time, I read and analyzed all 21 research papers published on access to and attitudes towards DBS. I took detailed notes and identified common themes.
Today, I attended a meeting about DBS. The researchers covered topics such as beta biomarkers, levodopa, and the different areas of the brain where DBS is implanted.
Today, I went to the UCSF neurology clinic. In the morning, I attended a meeting where we discussed specific patients. I then shadowed Dr. Ostrem as she met with her PD patients. I met a variety of patients at different stages of PD. Some had received DBS treatment, and others had not.
