JSTOR allows you the opportunity to conduct an Advanced Search where you can limit by specific fields, add several stringe of key words, select specific journals, limit by dates and more.
The first step is usually the easiest. Enter a search term and see what pops up! In this example, "Frankenstein" was entered and came back with over 23,807 results.
Enter "Frankenstein" and "Mary Shelley" This significantly reduces the number of articles that are displayed. We now see over 4,000 results. If you want to limit the search further, add a theme or topic.
With a database like JSTOR, you can utilize parentheses or quotation marks to make sure a specific term is limiting in the database. For example, if you search a topic such as "Creation AND Responsibility" along with the title of the book, adding quotations around "Creation AND Responsibility" tells the database that those words cannot be separated.
Utilizing the advanced search options will expand your search.
When you locate an article in JSTOR, click "cite" to the right of the article and then it will provide you with the appropriate citations. Click "copy" to copy the citation, and paste it on your Works Cited page. We will be using MLA format for the Works Cited page.
