This source is the site called SportsRec. The article is titled Baseball History in the 1950s and was published July 8, 2011. The article discusses a lot of the history and what was going on in baseball at the time of 1950. The reason this was inportant for my research was beacause Dr. Fox was the baseball coach during the 1950s, so this helps provide a lot of background information on the sport of baseball at the time.
This source comes from the University of Lynchbur sports website. It is titled Lynchburg mourns passing of alumnus Brad Babcock and was published June 4, 2020. The article discusses the sad passing of former baseball star from Lynchburg, Brad Babcock. The reason I thought this was important for my research was because the article uses quotes from Dr. Fox, which goes to show how much of an impact he had at the school, especially if it was published this year.
The source to the left is an article from the site called Essays in History. The site is a compilation of peer reviewed publications. This particular article was titled The Survival of Professional Baseball in Lynchburg, Virginia, 1950s-1990s and was published in 1995. The publication goes on to discuss the evolution of baseball throughout that particular time, specifically in Lynchburg, VA. Because of this, I thought it would be a crucial source for my research. It showed how the city loved baseball and succeeded with it.
The source above is the University of Lynchburg Baseball's records page. This page is found on lynchburgsports.com and is constantly updated season after season. The records date back for MANY years and vary in different categories. The reason I included this was because I felt like it gave a good breakdown of how succesful of a program the Baseball team at Lynchburg really is. It helps show how the legacy of Dr. Fox carries on to this day.
The last source above comes from the website retrowaste.com. This site breaks down its content into each decade ranging from 1920-1990. The article titled 1950s Sports: History, Facts, MVPs & Champions discusses all aspects of sport at that time. I felt like this could be a great resource to kind of sum up everything going on sports related, and not just baseball, at the time of Dr. Fox's career.
