SEL stands for "Social Emotional Learning". It is the process through which children and adults understand and manage emotions, set and achieve positive goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain positive relationships, and make responsible decisions. During the week, students Kindergarten through 5th grade will have "Stanton Time" (Social Emotional Learning time) as one of their specials. Fifth grade through 8th grade will have Adolescent Health weekly.
This is where comprehensive school counseling curriculum is shared and explored with students. Resources and materials used for lessons are researched and evidence-based and aim to provide students with helpful, relevant, and engaging information. We use a variety of games, songs, skits, books, video clips, and team building activities to bring the information to life and put skills into action.

Team Building - in 4th grade, students are presented with a series of challenges where they need to collaboratively problem solve. Our group comes up with a full value contract - our recipe for success - for which we hold each other accountable. We can add to it or adjust it as needed to suit the needs and expectations for our group.
