Reading: The students should be reading for at least 15 minutes each day and recording it in their weekly Reading Log. They will get a new Reading Log each Monday, so they can record any weekend reading on the log as well. Reading Logs need to be signed and turned in each Monday!
Math: Math practice work is generally a review of the day's math lesson. If a paper says "Fix and return" at the top, please have your child fix any mistakes and return it to class as soon as possible.
Other multi-day home projects will be given throughout the year.
Students can supplement their learning using many independent programs through our Clever platform. Their Clever QR code is on the front of their homework folder. They can use it to enter Clever on any device at home. You just need to download the Clever app onto a device or go to Clever.com. The top 3 students in Raz Kids, and i-Ready each month will be recognized in our Rock Star Royalty!
Raz-Kids (Kids A to Z): I have set students up to "Level Up" at their individual reading levels. Students can reinforce their reading skills by listening to stories, re- reading them, then answering story questions. Story selections and non-fiction reading are at student independent reading levels. Students enter through Clever and use their QR code to get to Ms. Spindler's page. They type or click "gspindler" for teacher's name. Then, they tap their name and type their name. They should be sure to click Level Up with the goal of completing all stories in that level to move onto the next. If they miss questions, they will be prompted to fix missed questions or to read back in the story and take the quiz again.
i-Ready: i-Ready provides personalized lessons in both Reading and Math. Students were assessed and are provided with lessons that meet their individual needs. Students build their skills by working through the lessons in "My Path". Practice in both areas is recommended weekly. This can also be accessed through Clever on the Ms. Spindler page. Students should be completing a total of 30 minutes per week of Reading and Math, including the time they work in class.
Math Fact Practice: Many students need to practice their addition and subtraction facts. Use flash cards to help and try Arcademic Skillbuilders. Kids can enter through Clever. The kids can play racing games with their addition and subtraction facts to build their fluency. They don't need to put their name in, just scroll to the bottom to play the free games. It's a fun one! Click on the link: Arcademic Skillbuilders or type in arcademics.com.
