The rules for commenting are the same for in class. There's actually only one rule -----> Respect. Think of what you'd want someone to say to YOU.
Compliment... Example Starters: "I like the..." "I like how..."
Comment... Example Starters: "I agree..." "I disagree..." "I think..."
Connect... Example Starters: "I have also..." "I have seen this..."
To keep the conversation going, ask a QUESTION!
Question... Example Starters: "I wonder...
why / who / what / when / where / how..."
Perhaps even leave the URL of your blog as well, so you can continue to talk about the topic.
Two more tips before you post...
1. Use correct grammar and punctuation - it makes you more credible (believable).
2. Ask a question to keep the conversation going, then check back later to see if he or she answered you.
It provides feedback, answers a question, adds on to the information, asks the blogger a question, gives a compliment... It is a short conversation between the reader and the writer.
1. Catchy title
2. Includes at least one visual (your own photo, cartoon, video, Glogster, Wordle, Thinglink...)
3. Interesting topic with the passion of the author coming through - your message is clear
4. Well-written, and not copy / pasted from somewhere else
5. Proofread & spell-checked - your best work
6. Written in paragraphs or prose format
7. Includes links to other websites on similar topics
8. Includes a question to the reader - challenging him or her to think

Adding a Title...
Make sure EVERY post has a title. If you do not, you cannot share just one post with someone. You'll have to share your entire blog, and it might be very difficult for that person to find the one post you want to share.
Adding a Photo...
1. Take / Create your own photo and upload it.
2. If #1 is not possible, look for an image on Pixabay. This site is great, because you don't have to cite it.
3. If #1 or #2 is not possible, go to Photosforclass.com, choose a photo, and give proper attribution to the owner.
4. Go back to #1 and create your own photo if you still can't find the perfect fit.
