Text

Pre-Algebra by McGraw-Hill

The book this year is a consumable which means student can write in their books.

However, in an effort to reduce the weight of their backpacks, this consumable is optional. The home work assigned can be found on the accompanying website through the E-Book.

Students can access the McGraw-Hill Website and resources through the google waffle. On the website they can find the book and many resources such as self-help, quizzes, problems worked out in detail etc. in order to help them succeed in Pre-Algebra.

All homework for Math 8 is posted on Google Classroom.

Grading:

Your child’s math grade will be based on homework, quizzes, tests, and projects through-out the year. Quizzes will be administered randomly, sometimes unannounced. Tests will be given at the end of each chapter / unit with a review the day before. The absence of a student the day before a test or quiz does not necessarily imply an extension on the test or quiz. The following grading scale will be used in my classroom:

A = 90% - 100% B = 80% - 89%

C = 70% - 79% D = 60% - 69%

Grades for tests, quizzes, homework, projects, etc. will be posted daily online. Parents and students will be able to monitor progress through Aeries.

Homework:

Homework generally will be assigned 4 nights per week and will be corrected daily and collected at random.

Not all homework will be collected but students who have questions are encouraged to always ask to go over problems they don't understand.

Students in this class will be expected to do their homework on a nightly basis, and promptly make up any missed work due to illness or absence.

It is the students' responsibility to secure class notes and missed material when they are absent.
I will endeavor to post the classnotes online but there will be sections for which there will be no class notes posted.

I will be available to help students during lunch daily and after school by appointment.

Again, homework will be posted on Google Classroom. Students may check this if they are absent or forget to write the assignment down. However, if there is no homework posted, that does not automatically mean that no homework was assigned. Students will be specifically instructed if and when there there will be no homework.

Students are responsible to complete all homework and are encouraged to check with friends if there is any confusion about an assignment.

Homework can be found through the following ways.

#1. It's posted in class. Copy the homework in your organizer

#2. It will be posted on google classroom

#3. You can get it from a friend. Make sure you have two friends' phone numbers.

#4. You can email me: rpont@lvusd.org
