Students who read books over the summer improve reading skills and critical thinking skills.  Most importantly, students report feeling healthier and happier!  Here are some opportunities for families to include more reading and learning in their summer activities.

#LVReads Book Lists:  These lists are organized by reading level (Beginning, Transitional, Developing, Independent, Fluent and Young Adults) and cover all grade levels. Each of these books have been carefully selected by LVUSD teachers and librarians based on reviews by credible organizations and popularity.  You can find these books at our local libraries.

Many of the digital learning tools that students have been using will remain active all summer long.  We have also created lists of FREE digital resources available for summer enrichment.

Community Programming

Visit our local libraries for fun activities all summer long!  The City of Calabasas Library will be offering entertaining programs for K-5 students every Wednesday at 4 pm.  Go to calabasaslibrary.org to register.  Space is limited and reservations are required. The Los Angeles County Library will be hosting an online summer reading program called Summer Discovery June 1 - August 11, 2024. Earn the chance to win prizes by registering for the program.  If you can’t get to the public libraries, students can access hundreds of digital books from the City of Calabasas Cloud Library.  Make sure you click on “kids or teen” to find titles for students.  To check-out these books, students should use their student ID number as their username and password.
