All LCMS students participate in the Accelerated Reader (AR) program through their Language Arts classes. This program encourages a very high level of reading by all Lindero students. Students choose independent reading options from a list of more than 200,000 award-winning children's and young adult novels and other literature in a wide variety of genres. While most books on the list are fiction, there are also some biographies and other non-fiction books. After reading a book in school and/or at home, students take a 10- or 20-question multiple choice comprehension test, and must achieve a 60/70 percent score to receive points. The Language Arts teachers set the deadlines and point totals for each of their classrooms.
