What will we be learning in Math Analysis Honors this year?
This discipline combines many of the trigonometric, geometric, and algebraic techniques needed to prepare students for the study of calculus and strengthens their conceptual understanding of problems and mathematical reasoning in solving problems. In this course, students will expand topics learned in Algebra 2 Honors as well as learn trigonometry, polar coordinates, vectors, parametric equations, conic sections (both analytically and geometrically), sequences and series, and begin their study of calculus to prepare for BC Calculus the following year. Students will not only improve their math skills, they will enhance their critical thinking skills and their ability to participate in class discussions as well as cooperative learning situations. In addition, students will benefit technologically from this course by learning how to use scientific and graphing calculators as well as online graphing programs to assist them in solving problems.
This course is demanding and success is attainable with practice, hard work, and dedication. It is imperative that students attend class regularly and complete all work assigned. Homework is assigned on a daily basis and students are expected to bring completed homework to class the next day.
Classroom Standards and Expectations
*Be Respectful: Respect and be courteous to all students and faculty. Listen attentively to all instruction and refrain from talking without permission. Keep the classroom clean and neat.
*Be Prepared: Bring all materials to class in order to be successful.
*Be On Time: Students should be in their seats when the bell rings working on their daily assignments.
*Missing class on test days is highly frowned upon. Students will be expected to take a make-up exam when they return to class unless other arrangements have been made with the teacher. Make-up exams may be different in form and content but will assess the same material. Students who miss exit tickets and/or quizzes may not be entitled to make-up exams as these exams are often graded in class as part of a complete learning experience. Chapter test grades may be used to substitute grades from missed exit tickets and/or quizzes.
I am committed to the education and well-being of all students. Please see me immediately if you find yourself in need of additional help. Please make an effort to email me if possible if you are absent and always check google classroom for notes, assignments, etc.
I am looking forward to a great year. You can email me at acamacho@lvusd.org.
