Volunteers

PFC Volunteer opportunities in the AC Stelle Library Media Center

Our library is staffed 32.5 hours per week by a Media Center Coordinator. Volunteers are an essential element which makes the library function smoothly at lunch (11:54 am to 12:32 pm). If you are interested in volunteering, please email me if you haven't already.

Overview:

Volunteers help check in students, perform circulation tasks, answer questions, help students find books, and manage student printing. It is a weekly task which requires a high level of commitment. Volunteers might also be asked to help with laptop check-out and check-in at the beginning and end of the school year.

Requirements:

TB clearance, confidentiality agreement

Weekly volunteers are required by the state of California to be interviewed and possibly tested for tuberculosis exposure. LVUSD does not provide this service so it will have to be done through your healthcare provider. Volunteers are also required to sign confidentiality agreements with the district to protect students' privacy.

Basic Information for Volunteers

Who works and when?
We will open to all students (and volunteers) on the first day of classes. Laptop checkout to 6th grade will occur on the second day of school. Regular volunteers work at lunchtime (11:54 am to 12:32 pm) every week. If you are new to the Library Media Center, please come 10 minutes early on your first day to get some basic training. You'll help students with book checkouts, answer questions, monitor behavior, and tidy up after lunch.

What else?
The Library Media Center is a gift-free zone - your volunteerism is the best gift of all! If you still feel compelled to give, please consider book or gift card donations so everyone can benefit from your generosity. Personal gifts are almost always given away. Please let me know if you have any questions, concerns, or feedback. I'm easiest to reach via email: banderson@lvusd.org

Thanks!
As always, thank you for wanting to help in the Media Center. It wouldn't function smoothly without your help. I look forward to working with each and every one of you!
