About

It's an environment where we teach the skills necessary for the effective use of ideas and information, provide a rich variety of materials including technology to support the curriculum, and promote a love of reading.

Mission Statement

The mission of the Alice C. Stelle Library Media Center is to assist all students in becoming information literate, and in developing a love of reading for pleasure. Students will be taught and encouraged to develop strategies for becoming active and creative locators, evaluators, and users of information. The library media program exists to:

The library media center works collaboratively with site and district leadership, other school sites, and the community to achieve and maintain this mission statement. LVUSD has developed a partnership with the City of Calabasas Library to provide digital resources which support our curriculum and our students.

Book collection overview:

The Library Media Center opened in January 2004 with approximately 5,000 materials, which include fiction, nonfiction, and reference works. Additionally, DVDs and audio books are available for curricular support by teachers. Currently we have over 10,000 materials in the library. When you log into the Follett Destiny Catalog using your LVUSD Google username and ID number, you can view your record (check your due dates, renew your books, see your holds, or check your fines) or make lists of books you want to read.

Behavior guidelines:

The Library Media Center is a place for quiet study or reading, doing research or checking out books. It is expected that you will respect the rights of other students in the Library Media Center. Uncooperative students will lose their library privileges.

AC Stelle Library Book Circulation Information:

There are no late fines on library books in the Library Media Center. Books become overdue after 21 days which causes email overdue notices to be sent. Books may be renewed once, but needing more than 6 weeks to read a book will prompt a discussion before it can be renewed further. Renewals can be requested online (email acstellelibrary@lvusd.org) or done in person at the Library Media Center. Students may not check out new items if there are unpaid charges or overdue items on their record. All materials checked out under a student's name are their responsibility.
