Aphrodite is "The ideal female of grace and beauty," Usually depicted as "Naked, bathing, half-naked, dressed in a tunic, or as the Victorian goddess in arms." (Pantheon). On vases she is depicted as fully clothed, in her elegance, and in her sculptures, only half-nude. Her ideal symbols in the arts are a "Swan, mirror, apple, or a scallop shell,", (Ducksters) as these signify the beauty of the world or human desires in Ancient Greece.
