The Tri-Valley Teacher Induction Program (TVTIP) is a preliminarily state-accredited two-year program that offers teachers the opportunity to obtain a CA Clear Credential.
TVTIP is designed to provide a two-year, individualized, job-embedded system of mentoring, support and professional learning that begins in the teacher’s first year of teaching.
Eligible candidates will be provided with personalized support from an experienced and highly qualified TVTIP Mentor.
Most eligible teachers will be contacted by a TVTIP coordinator during the initial district orientation process, at the beginning of each school year.
If you are hired after this date, or were not contacted, please contact the Program Director or your District Coordinator.
Upon completion of all program requirements, TVTIP will send a verification of completion to our program's credential analyst. Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District is the credentialing agency for our program.
Our credential analyst recommend eligible Teacher Candidates to the Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC) for a California Clear credential upon completion.
The teacher candidate is then responsible for completing the CTC application and payment. Step by step directions can be found here.
If you have additional credential requirements (TPA, RICA, EL, etc.), all renewal requirements must be completed in order to be eligible for a Clear Credential. We recommend that Teacher Candidates work on additional requirements within the two years of Induction support so they can be recommended upon completion of the program.
The program identifies and assigns a Coach to each Teacher Candidate within the first 30 days of enrollment in the program.
Your TVTIP Coach will contact you by district email.
If you haven't heard from your TVTIP Coach, please contact the Program Director.
Our team of coaches are experienced and highly-qualified educators who are fully released from the classroom.
Coaches receive ongoing training in how to best support Teacher Candidates, both in mentoring and in educational best practices.
The program identifies and assigns a Coach to each Teacher Candidate, matching the Coach and Teacher Candidate according to credentials held, grade level, and/or subject area, as appropriate to the teacher's employment.
TVTIP is free of cost to all eligible teachers employed in Livermore Valley Joint Unified School District, Dublin Unified School District, and Castro Valley Unified School District.
If you are employed outside of one of our participating districts and are interested in Induction, please contact our Program Director for more information.
The program is intended to be a two-year program, completed in the first two years of teaching with a preliminary teaching credential. Our Program Sequence is outlined in our Candidate Handbook. However, the CTC allows five years for completion of an Induction program.
There is an Early Completion Option (ECO) for "experienced and exceptional" candidates who meet the program's established criteria. For more information about ECO, please see our Candidate Handbook.
If you get a job in another district, Year 1 of Induction will transfer to your new district where you will participate in Year 2. TVTIP sends verification of participation to the new district upon request.
If you do not have a teaching job next year or are teaching out of state, you have five years to complete your Induction. You may complete this upon being hired through your new district (if offered), an approved University, or a County Office of Education. To locate an approved program, use this CTC search tool.
If you are unable to complete Induction within the 5 year window, the state allows teacher to apply for an extension of up to 3 years to clear a credential.
TVTIP is designed to support teachers who hold preliminary credentials. If you do not yet possess a preliminary credential, please review the Roadmap to Teaching from the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. We look forward to working with you in the future!
