The Course Selection Sheet is designed to simplify the registration process. Students are encouraged to go record their decisions on their course selection sheet so that when they officially register for courses online, all of the decisions are already made. Remember, you can use the 2026-2027 Course Catalog to review course descriptions, and you can speak to our teachers and staff directly at our Expo on February 12th to ask questions needed to make an informed decision.
1. Social Science - Required Course - Students will choose between taking World History A/B and AP World History A/B.
2. English - Required Course - Students will choose between taking English 10 A/B, or AP Seminar 10 A/B. (AP Seminar meets the English 10 graduation requirement, is more rigorous and has a larger out-of-class time demand.)
3. Math - Required Course - Please refer to the 4 year Math Sequence, or talk to your current Math teacher to determine the appropriate Math course to register for.
4. Physical Education - Required Course - *10th-grade students participating in LHS sports teams have the option to earn PE 2A/B credits through their sports participation. Doing so allows a student to opt out of PE 2 as a class and opens a slot in their schedule to take an additional class of their choosing. Students MUST meet eligibility criteria, complete the CIF Sports Exemption Waiver, and submit the waiver to the Athletic Director. Students who do not complete the terms of the waiver will be required to take PE 2 as a Junior. If you select the sports exemption, you will make an additional elective selection during registration.
5. Science - Required Course - Please refer to the Science sequence, or talk to your current Science teacher to determine the appropriate Science course to register for. Students who wish to participate in FFA should select an Agriculture Science course .
6. Elective - One Elective choice Required - This is perhaps where a students most difficult decision will be. Students and Parents should review the LHS 4 Year plan and consider what the post high school academic goals of the student are.
World Language (WL)- 2 years of a World Language is a requirement for entrance into a 4-year UC or CSU, and three years is recommended. Students who complete 4 years of a World Language may be eligible to earn a State Seal of Biliteracy on their high school diploma, further improving their College prospects. World Language is not a high school graduation requirement.
CTE (Career Technical Education) - Career Education (CTE) course are designed as multiyear sequences or "Pathways" and provide students the opportunity to explore potential future careers. - Students who complete one or more CTE Pathways will receive a CTE cord for graduation. - Students are not required to take CTE courses as Freshman and may defer them to a later year. Our CTE teachers will be present at our Expo and prepared to answer any questions about their courses and pathways you may have.
Visual and Performing Arts (VAPA) - One year of VAPA is required for entry into a 4 year CSU/UC. All of our VAPA offerings have at least a two-year sequence, allowing students to take both an intro and advanced course. Our Video, Culinary, and Ceramics courses (pending board approval) are both VAPA and CTE courses allowing students to meet the VAPA college entrance requirement while working toward completing a CTE Pathway.
General Electives - These are courses offered that do not fulfill any UC Entrance requirements or CTE Pathways.
A Period - Optional - Signing up for an "A" period is a commitment to begin school at 7:17 am four days per week for the duration of the school year. Enrollment in an "A" period is not required. PE will likely be the only "A" period course available, but it will allow room in a student's schedule to take an additional CTE, VAPA, WL, or Elective course.
B Period - Optional - Students interested in participating in theatre productions and performances are able to sign up for a B period course. Signing up for B period is a commitment to attend class from 3:12-4:23 four days a week. Theatre Production courses are the only anticipated B Period Offerings.

Students who can accomplish their High School academic goals by only taking 5 classes may select "No Period 6 Fall" in area 6.
