Dear Grade Eight,
This English course will zoom in on concepts such as poetic devices, poetry analysis, punctuation, in-text citations practice, literary techniques, and deciphering modifiers. The literature unit will cover the following novels and play: The Giver, The Schwa was Here, The Boy Who Dared, and Macbeth.
For vocabulary, you will be given twenty words on Fridays. The list of words must be submitted on Wednesdays via <formative.com> with the definition, part of speech, 2 synonyms, 2 antonyms, and the vocab word in a sentence. You will then be quizzed on Mondays.
The grading scale comprises of the following categories and weightings:
Assignments 40 points
Quiz 30
Test 20
Participation 10
Please make the necessary effort to submit all work on time. This practice will prevent you for losing 20% daily for late submissions.
