"We're the crew that will accrue knowledge beyond our age" (Ms. Zola).
Dear Grade Ten,
This English course will zoom in on concepts such as poetic devices, poetry analysis, punctuation, in-text citations practice, literary techniques, and deciphering modifiers. The literature unit will cover the following novels and plays: Night, The Great Gatsby, Of Mice and Men, Life As We Knew It, Othello, and King Lear.
For vocabulary, you will be given twenty words on Fridays. The list of words must be submitted on Wednesdays via <formative.com> with the definition, part of speech, etymology, synonym, antonym, prefix, suffix, root, and a sentence. You will then be quizzed on Mondays.
The grading scale comprises of the following categories and weightings:
Classwork 35 points
Assessments 30
Writing 25
Homework 10
Please make the necessary effort to submit all work on time. This practice will prevent you for losing 20% daily for late submissions.
Altogether, I wish you a productive year.
Sincerely yours,
Ms. Zola
