A little about me....
I am lucky in that I always knew I wanted to be a teacher. History and English both called to me, and my love of reading tipped the scales to English. Though I have always loved reading and teaching, my life experiences have deepened my understanding of subject and craft. As I enter my 2 3rd of teaching at LHS, I am excited for the reading journey that we will take this year, continuing with some tried-and-true work and adding a few new ideas to our units too!
My love of public education and value of being a contributing citizen guide my teaching process and led me to create the Community Service Learning project, and subsequently (with the help of a state law), our civics class and project, becoming a MA recognized teacher in the field. Though no longer teaching civics and running the CSL class, much of the thought processes in those classes are woven into the work I do in English classes. Critical thinking, analyzing research, and professional practice with communication skills drive my practice and planning. As always, I continue to look forward to learning and growing with my students each year.
Outside of teaching, I live in Lunenburg with my husband and my 15 and almost 12 year old. I dabble in running (more like walking now), like sports, cooking and baking, and, of course, reading!
