Science/History
Grade 8
Mr. Guerra
I teach an 8th grade science and history at Lunenburg Middle-High School. In addition to teaching, I coach the Lunenburg Science Olympiad Team, and Track Team. I love my school and am proud of the education and programs we provide for the students.
I am passionate about creating an atmosphere where students are excited to learn about their world, and strive to make each day a memorable experience. It is so much fun to show students something that they have never seen before! I believe that happy students are easiest to teach, so bringing fun into the room is an essential part of my teaching.
I create videos for class and post them to a YouTube page that I share with a colleague. www.youtube.com/GBonSci
In addition to teaching, I am a runner, hiker, explorer, and proud dog parent of two dogs: an energetic lab/staffie named Puprika and a big happy lab named Moose. I perpetually seek out new adventures with my wife, Mary and the dogs.
I graduated from UMass Amherst in 2008 with a BS in Earth Systems Science and a BA in Geology, then attended Cornell University to complete a MS in Geology. While at Cornell, I completed research on environmental and climate change using lake sediment cores and tree rings. After graduate school, I worked for the Army Corps of Engineers in Baltimore, MD. I have been teaching science since 2013; it's the best job I've ever had!
