Many students coming to Lumen are lacking credits to complete a High School Diploma. There are certain requirements that cannot be met through our Concurrent Enrollment Program. To find out which credits/classes your student lacks, please contact our School Counselor, Mrs. Jackson. Listed below are several ways your students can earn these credits.
- Enroll in the course at Lumen. All courses will be on Canvas, the school’s Learning Management System, taught by our teachers. For details, please contact Mrs. Jackson, our School Counselor at djackson@lumenscholar.org
- Take a competency test at a State testing center. For detailed information, click on the following link: https://www.graniteschools.org/curriculuminstruction/testing-center/
- Students must first meet with Mrs. Jackson either in person, or via Zoom video or telephone
- Students will work with Mrs. Jackson to complete the testing request and print appropriate paperwork to take to the test
- Lumen is not allowed to give students study guides, practice tests or tutoring for any competency tests. Students and parents can access the Utah State Standards for any class at the following link: https://www.uen.org/core/
- The tests are given in 2 parts. The first part is to test knowledge of the content of the course. If students pass it, then they can take the 2nd part of the test, which is practical applications of knowledge through assignments. If students do NOT pass the first part of the test, then they can NOT take the 2nd part
- Students can take the test ONCE each year
- The Testing Center is open during the summer
- Pay for and complete packets through Northridge Learning Center. You must still be enrolled full time at Lumen. Families are responsible for all fees https://northridgelearningcenter.com/#/home
- Enroll in Eastshore Online School through Alpine School District. You must still be enrolled full time at Lumen. Families are responsible for all fees https://eastshore.alpineschools.org/cost-and-fees/
