Summary of Services
The goal of school counseling is to support the healthy growth and development of the child (social, emotional, and academic) in his/her world of school, home, and community. This process of growth is encouraged through classroom guidance lessons, small group counseling, individual counseling, consultation with parents and teachers, and coordination of services. School Counseling involves "heart" in all its meanings - courage, strength, commitment, center and the pulse that nourishes our students and schools.
Detail of Services
Classroom Guidance Lessons (SEL) - Planned educational groups designed to help students understand and deal with normal development tasks and issues. Examples include character education, peer relationships, conflict resolution, personal safety and Casel's 5 core competencies. https://casel.org/Core-Competencies/. These lessons are provided for all students throughout the year.
Small Group Counseling - I work with students in small groups who have been referred for a similar issue. Some common types of counseling groups deal with divorce, friendship, self-esteem, social skills, anger, grief, illness, etc.
Individual Counseling - I work one on one with a student to help them resolve problems and developmental concerns, enhance decision making skills, and/or build coping skills. This is a confidential relationship.
Referral Assistance - I maintain a comprehensive list of specialists who may be helpful in the event of a concern beyond the scope of school counseling services.
Coordination of Services - I also serve as the team lead for SST (Student Success Team) formerly I&RS as well as coordinate 504 plans.
How to meet with Mrs. Pease - Students can arrange a time to come to my office individually or with a small group. Students can write me a note, fill out a referral form or tell their teacher that they would like to meet with me. Parents/Guardians, teachers, principals or any staff member may refer students to the counseling office at any time.
