Out-of-District Transfer Process
The out of district tuition fee for each school year is $750.00 for one (1) student or $1,000 per family. However, tuition is waived based on admission to the District’s magnet gifted and talented program, dual language program, or other secondary advanced academics. Student's admitted into these programs must be approved by District personnel. More information on out of district transfers can be found in the District's Transfer Policy FDA (Local).

Children of Employees
Any child of a Lufkin ISD employee may apply as a transfer if the employee lives outside the Lufkin ISD attendance zone. Please click here to submit your application.
What to expect after your application is turned in
Transfers are processed on a first-come basis and considered individually at the time of their request by Lufkin ISD Superintendent and Principals. Therefore, parents should complete and return the application form as soon as possible.
Once a transfer application is completed it will be sent to the Principal of the appropriate campus for review. Depending upon qualifications and space availability, a decision is made regarding the transfer request.
Transfer students are approved for one school year only. All students must reapply each year. The approval of a transfer does not guarantee future transfer approval for the next school year. The student’s attendance and discipline during the current year will be evaluated prior to approval for the coming school year.
The parent will be notified as soon as a decision is made regarding approval or non-approval of the application.
