Recertification

The Ludlow Public School District is dedicated to working  closely with staff to ensure continual professional growth through various professional development opportunities. We believe that this allows for staff, like their students, to always have the opportunity to learn and grow academically.  The Curriculum Office works to provide professional development experiences for teachers that are timely, relevant, research-based and support teacher-led initiatives, with the goal of improving teacher practice and student outcomes.

MASSACHUSETTS RECERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

Massachusetts Educator Professional level licenses have a valid life of 5-calendar years and must be renewed every five years to remain active. Professional licenses that are 1-year away from expiring, or that are currently inactive, can be renewed if the required number of Professional Development Points (PDPs) have been earned. Important links to professional development and licensure renewal resources are provided on the right-hand panel menu and should prove helpful to educators, administrators, and PD providers.

Below is an overview of the requirements for MA relicensure. However, every educator should read the DESE document to ensure a comprehensive understanding of what is expected. Each educator's licensure is unique. Understanding what is expected based on your individual circumstance is critical.

Primary license:

15 pdps in Content Area

15 pdps in Pedagogy

15 pdps in SEI

15 pdps in Diverse Learning (a.k.a. special education)

90 pdps at the discretion of employer (e.g. linked to SIP/DIP/Educ. Eval. goals) and staff

 Additiopnal license(s):

30 pdps - 15 pdps in content & 15 at discretion of employer and staff

*SEI Endorsement 67.5 pdps - carry over opportunity 1 time only. To learn more about the impact of SEI on License Renewal,  click here.
