DIBELS mCLASS

In accordance with best practice and MA DESE's Early Literacy Regulation effective July 1, 2023, Ludlow has adopted DIBELS mCLASS to support students' early literacy needs including risk factors for Dyslexia.

DIBELS ® (Dynamic Indicators of Basic Early Literacy Skills) is a set of procedures and measures for assessing the acquisition of literacy skills. They are designed to be short (one minute) fluency measures that can be used to regularly detect risk and monitor the development of early literacy and early reading skills in kindergarten through eighth grade.DIBELS results can be used to evaluate individual student development as well as provide grade-level feedback toward validated instructional objectives.

DIBELS 8th Edition is the least invasive, and one of the most effective screening tools available. It is used widely in Title 1 schools and special education programs across the nation.  DIBELS was developed to measure recognized and empirically validated skills related to general reading outcomes. Each subtest has been thoroughly researched and demonstrated to be a reliable and valid indicator of early literacy development. Ludlow has chooses DIBELS 8th Edition as our assessment solution, we trust the scientific evidence, research-based practices, and decades of experience in teaching and learning on which DIBELS is based.

mCLASS, powered by DIBELS® 8th Edition, elimites the paper-pencil DIBELS adiminstration and replaces it with online teacher-administered literacy assessments and intervention for grades K–6 . The mCLASS platform hosts all asseessments online, records student assessment outcomes, and provides recommended interventions and progress monitoring. mClass  analizes all of the DIBELS data from the  individual, class, school and district level providing teachers and administrators immediate results to better support and serve students' literacy needs
