The Monterey Symphony Orchestra is our Varsity ensemble and has become synonymous with success at the highest levels, regionally. While maintaining extremely high standards musicically, these students find ways to be excel in everything from athletics, advanced academics, culinary arts, ag., decathlon, other musical ensembles... EVERYTHING, really! We have represented well in Region Orchestra (including 2 of the 4 principal chairs last year), UIL Solo and Ensemble, as well as UIL Concert and Sightreading Evaluation - having earned Sweepstakes awards 14 of the last 16 years and 10 years consecutively.

The Monterey Philharmonic Orchestra is our Non-Varsity String ensemble as well as our LARGEST ensemble. This group is split and the students meet in one of two separate periods each day. We combine together for clinics and performances. These students are also involved in EVERYTHING at MHS, and they work very hard to perform well in each activity! They are consistently becoming better musicians each year and have continued to excel in their performances as they have progressed.

The Monterey Concert Orchestra is our Sub Non-Varsity String ensemble. These students are working hard to develop skills that will take them into either the Philharmonic or Symphony ensembles in the year(s) to come.

Mystique by Monterey is our community outreach arm of the MHS Orchestra program. They are a strolling strings group that will perform in uncharacteristic locales (banquets, get-togethers, etc.) and will walk around while playing a pops-themed set list.
