Catalogs of Books

Search for books, ebooks, audio, digital resources, collections and/or create your own collections for personal or school use. The library is open. Feel free to come to the library, browse, and select your own book or get assistance from me to find a book. You can also put a book on hold if it's checked out.

You'll find ebooks and audiobooks here; they are mostly fiction. Be aware, you have access to K - 12 resources. Your username is your 1001# and your password is the same as your chromebook password.

The Lubbock Public Library has books, ebooks, audio, magazines, as well as other digital resources. If you need a library card, see Ms. Cargile. You can also call the public library and they will ensure you get a library card! You'll have access to their larger Overdrive collection. Even during the pandemic, they are currently (3-22-20) offering curbside pickup and getting cards out to people.

You can also get a public library card from the Houston Public Library as a Texas Resident. I have one!

Free Online Book/Audio/Read Alouds Resources

A limited collection, but it does have selections that many will enjoy. There's a search box at the top. If they don't have a book, they seem to take donations.

Project Gutenberg has over 60,000 items from which to choose. These are all in the public domain, as they have terminated their copyright.

You'll see lots of fairy tales here. Books listed are divided by age.

As you scroll through, you select the subject that interests you. Click on it and a list of books appear. Subjects include the following: mythology, outer space, children's lit., the American Revolution, 1000 Black Girls Books, Dinosaurs and Shakespeare.

Reading Lists /Book Recommendations

The Lone Star list, selected by Texas middle school librarians for the Texas Library Association, consists of 20 books meant to encourage middle school students to read a variety of books.

The Tayshas list, selected by Texas high school librarians for the Texas Library Association, consists of books to encourage teens to read. The number of books could vary from 50 - 100, give or take.

The Maverick list, selected by Texas public school librarians for the Texas Library Association, consists of graphic novels for elementary through high school.

A place to search for all award winning books from YALSA, a division of the American Library Association. Use this as a great place to find books that students and adults enjoy.

Hosted by Harper Collins Publisher, Epic Reads lists YA books soon to be published, trends, videos, and giveaways.

Need help knowing how many books are in a series and what order you should read them in. This database will be a great help!

A book community, Biblionasium allows you to have a free account to keep a list of books you want to read and books you've read and to discuss books in a community. You do have to have your parents' permission to set up your account.
