STEAM Pigments Workshop (2021)
Led by members of STEAM, students created artwork with natural pigments. Students followed a procedure to crush leaves and petals to obtain natural paints, an environmentally friendly alternative to traditional paints.
Annual Rube Goldberg Event (2022 & 2023)
Our annual end of the year event is the Rube Goldberg Challenge. STEM academy members were given various materials to build a contraption. The winning team's machine must fulfill a specific task.
Star Wars Day STEMinar and Event (2022 & 2023)
STEM Academy members were given a presentation on Star Wars and astronomy. There were also complementary Star Wars themed snacks!
Women in STEM (STEM and SSA collaboration) (2023)
STEM and SSA collaboratively organized the Women in STEM event, focusing on the Radium Girls. There was a gallery walk, showcasing the accomplishments of women in STEM. The event ended with the screening of Radium Girls.
Candy Cane Lab (2021, 2022, 2023)
As an annual holiday celebration, STEM Academy holds the Candy Cane Lab. Students melt and shape various flavors of candy canes to make creative figures. At the end, judges vote for the winner.
Career Night (2021, 2022, 2023)
The STEM Academy Career Night is a highlight event. Students prepare and interview various professionals in STEM. Previous to COVID, this event was in-person. However, due to the convenience and increased opportunity to meet a professionals country-wide, we have transitioned to Zoom Career Nights.
Movie Night (STEM, Green Action Team, Arts & Humanities Academy collaboration)(2023)
This joint-club holiday event featured the screening of WALL-E. Students were encouraged to wear holiday themed PJs to participate in contests. Various snacks and hot pizza was served, making the event very enjoyable.
