AP MUSIC THEORY

Prerequisite: Must be in band, choir or orchestra

The AP Music Theory course will develop a student’s ability to recognize, understand and describe the basic materials and processes of music that are heard or presented in a score. The student will also be confident to take the Music Theory AP Advanced Placement test at the end of the year. This is a college-level course.

NOTE: This course requires a $50 fee.

A review of the fundamentals of music; part writing and figured bass exercises, melody harmonizations, dominant seventh chords, and non-harmonic tones.


MUSIC I-II, APPLIED

Prerequisite: Teacher Approval

Applied Music courses offer students an opportunity to receive small group or private instruction designed to develop and refine performance skills. This class is designed for the Band, Orchestra, Choir, Musical Theatre and singer songwriter students wanting to pursue Music as a major or minor in college.  Class performances are mandatory.
