A "Market Value Asset" is shorthand for something that goes beyond our traditional high school diploma that students can show on a resume for future employers. The term MVA is quite broad and contains many subcategories which are detailed in the PDF linked here from the Kauffman Foundation. Information about LSR7's Diploma Plus initiative is located on the district's website here. At the high school level, the focus is centered on Experiences that promote real world learning that aligns what students learn in school with employer-recognized skillsets.
SRA Students interested in field work requiring safety training have access to 10 hours Occupational Safety and Health Association training, paid for by the school district. These OSHA 10 Cards are lifetime, industry recognized credentials (IRCs) which open quite a few doors to good paying work beyond high school. Any interested students should click the link below for further instructions and information.
SRA Students have access to project based learning opportunities currently through the English curriculum where Dr. Moore's pitch a project offers the chance for inquiry into burning questions, passions, or areas of interest that allow the practice of reading, writing, and thinking skills.
Starting soon, students will have access to projects in other classes as well, which could lead to an MVA via client connected projects (work with a career, business, or community partner), entrepreneurial experience (your own business efforts), or lead to an IRC opportunity embedded within a class project. Through the development of Personal Learning Plans and support teams in Success Lab, students will spend critical time developing self knowledge, setting goals, and discerning areas of focus that may lead to potential projects which are more likely than traditional curriculum delivery alone to engage and lead to retention of deep knowledge.
