Head Coach - Shelley McCain
Shelley McCain has been the head coach of the Northern Stars since Lee's Summit North opened in 1995. Before coaching the Northern Stars, she coached the Lee's Summit High School Tigerettes for seven years. Under her direction, the Northern Stars have earned a respected position as one of the strongest dance teams in Missouri. Over the years, the Stars have consistently received numerous high honors and championship awards at elite dance camps as well as at regional, state and national level competitions.
Coach McCain is also very involved at the state level serving on the board for the Missouri Dance Team Association. She has served as a judge at various dance competitions throughout the country for over 25 years. She retired after 25 years as a school counselor at Lee's Summit North. She returned to the classroom on a partime basis in 2022. She and her son Ryan live in Lee's Summit.

This is Justene's 7th year coaching the Northern Stars. Justene attended Lee's Summit West High School and served on the dance team for 4 years and was captain her senior year. She attended the University of Missouri - Columbia and was a Golden Girl her freshman year. She graduated from Kansas State University where she was a Classy Cat for three years.
Justene is a school counselor at Lee's Summit North. She lives in Lee's Summit with her husband Tyler and sons Jax and Briar.

Assistant Coach - Makenzie Nichols
Assistant Coach - Makenzie Nichols
This is Makenzie's 6th year coaching the Northern Stars. Makenzie attended Lee's Summit North High School where she served on the dance team for 4 years and was captain her junior and senior years. She attended the University of Missouri - Kansas City and was a UMKC dancer her freshman year. Makenzie has an elementary teaching degree from UCM and is in her final year in the School Counseloing Program at UMKC. Makenzie is a seven year, NDA Instructor and serves on the high school and college circuit as a head instructor. She is an elementary/online school counselor in the Lees Summit School District. She and her family live in Lee's Summit.
