Dear Parents,

The indicators listed here are a way to report students' current progress with their learning. We do not use an A-F scale, nor do we equate the letters to that scale. It is important to use a mindset of growth and progress.

Each child learns at a different pace, and we simply report where students are at the time at the end of the quarter. It can undermine learning when we value M, P, and E to traditional grades.

Although change can be uncomfortable and may stretch thinking, it is necessary to view students in a learning continuum.

What we know:

You want your child to succeed. So do we.

You have high expectations. So do we.

Your child is important to you. They are to us as well.

You want communication. We send things home frequently in the Home Folder and communicate through email and our online newsletter in Schoology. Not all work will come home.

Some work comes home after learning.

Some work is in a notebook at school for continual use.

Some work is just practice.

We thank you for your support of our learning,

                       The Third Grade Team
