What we can be most proud of as a program is that almost every student that has ever left the program and decided to play in college has received a scholarship to do so. Even those not majoring in music have opportunities to play in college marching band, pep band, or concert band, and receive some type of music scholarship while pursuing their major in something else.
So often people believe that you have to make strict choices when you go into high school. We think that this is your time to explore options, and see what you enjoy. We want you to know that you can do more than just band, or just sports while you're in high school. We encourage it! Here's just a few things that students have participated in (school sponsored), while participating in band:
Football Volleyball Cheerleading Dance Team
Track Cross Country Softball Baseball
Soccer Bowling Team Swim Team Basketball
Beta Club Drama / plays Student Council National Honors Society
ROTC Academy Visual Arts Academy ...and more
We want you to be life long performers and consumers in music. We have many alumni that continue to play in public. Locally, that's most easily done by participating in the Lafayette Concert Band, however we have many that play around town as professional musicians during the evenings as well! Regardless of your path, there are a lot of people that are now famous that have done band while in high school, and we want you to know that you can join them. It's not a choice of this or that, but rather how we can help you continue to enrich your life. Here's just a few so that you know:
