Drawing I and II are art III and IV level studio courses and therefore require more effort, dedication and diligence on the students part. Drawing I and II are art III and IV level studio courses respectively. In Drawing I students will learn basic drawing techniques, observational drawing skills, grid drawing, discuss composition, perspective choice, and reference the elements and principles of design. Students will create projects from ideas derived through the study of various cultures and art movements. Students will study different media throughout the year and complete final projects in each media. Some media may include: Graphite Pencil, Compressed or Vine Charcoal, White Chalk, Colored Pencil, Pen and India Ink, and Oil Pastel. Drawing II students will move on to larger scale drawings, begin to develop their artistic voice through the development of a more cohesive body of work and continue to improve upon their previous skill level. Prerequisite: Art II and/or teacher recommendation. A lab fee is required for each student plus additional supplies. Don't expect to dive into a project immediately. We will do studies and technique skill drills repeatedly until we have mastered them enough to begin a final project.
