Listening and paying attention to relaxing music is another way to help us feel calm. Choose music that you enjoy and that you find relaxing. Find a quiet place where you can get comfortable and be still while you listen. While you are listening to the music, remind yourself to focus only on what you are hearing. If you feel your mind start to wander to other thoughts, refocus your attention on what you are hearing.

This book explains that sometimes our minds have a tendency to wander away, just like a puppy does. Taking deep breaths helps us to bring our mind back into the here and now so that we can focus on whatever is going on around us. The more we practice bringing our mind back when it wanders away, the better our mind will become at staying in the present moment. Mindfulness takes practice!
