Teacher Bio

I have been a teacher in Liberty for 15 years. All of those years have been spent here at the wonderful Heritage Middle School. I not only teach 8th grade English here at HMS, but I am also the Yearbook Club sponsor. I graduated with a Bachelor's of Arts in Secondary Education Language Arts from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and received my Master's of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction from UMKC as well. I am currently pursuing my Educational Specialist Degree from Arkansas State University in Curriculum. My husband also teaches for Liberty Public Schools. He teaches History at Liberty High School and is a junior varsity softball coach and the assistant varsity baseball coach. We have three amazing, little girls. Sophia is 9 years old and is a 4th grader at St. James Catholic School; Lena is 7 years old and is a 2nd grader at St. James; Antonia is 5 years old and is a Kindergartener at St. James as well.

I have always wanted to be a teacher from the time I was a little girl. My strength is in my ability to connect with my students; I have formed incredible relationships with my kiddos throughout my teaching career and continue to have relationships with many of them as they enter high school, college, and their careers. It is extremely important for me to develop a level of trust with all of them so that they not only respect me as their teacher but enjoy coming to my class every day. Reading and writing are crucial for success in any chosen avenue of life, but it is my job to help each and every student realize how important it is and lead them toward achievement of their goals in my content.

In my spare time, I enjoy working out, shopping, reading, and spending time with my girls. I love being with my friends and family. I must say that teaching 8th graders is the most enjoyable for me because they keep me on my toes and make me feel younger.

I look forward to another amazing year!
