Hi! My name is Dr. Fisher. I have been counseling at Manor Hill since 2003. I've been around so long that some of my former students are now parents at Manor Hill! Before my time at Manor Hill, I taught 6th Grade Special Education at Plaza Middle School in the Park Hill School District, and at Liberty Middle School right down the road here in Liberty.
It took me a long time to figure out what I wanted to be when I grew up, and I went to school for a long time, for different things. I went to Indian Hills Community College and then Simpson College to study music. Then I went to University of Northern Iowa to learn about teaching. Once I began teaching, I realized that I wanted to counsel students; so I went to University of Missouri-Kansas City and Kansas State University.
Since I wanted to be the best counselor that I possibly could, I went on to become a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC). When I figured out that kids really like to play when we are counseling, I became a Registered Play Therapist (RPT). That's why I have so many toys in my office!
Liberty has been my home for over 20 years! My wonderful wife is a library media specialist at Liberty North High School, and my sons attend school in Liberty. We like to read, cook, bike ride, and watch movies together.
