There are many expenses that our organization incurs throughout each school year, including:
- General instrument repairs
- Equipment truck rental for performances
- Annual tuning of pan instruments
- Purchasing of additional equipment to outfit our growing membership
PANgea’s equipment was originally purchased in 2003 with a combination of funds from the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools and the LPS music department. Most additional equipment that has since been added is from the founder’s personal inventory.
Steel pans are tuned and retuned through a rigorous hammering process. As metal can only stretch so far, many of our instruments are becoming worn and are no longer able to produce good sounds. We hope to gradually replace the initial set of steel pans over the course of the next few years while also adding additional instruments to outfit our growing organization.
