Humanities Materials 2023-24
What we're working on this quarter: 3rd quarter learning is focused on collaboration & Language Arts Standards. The majority of work will be differentiated by reading ability and some will be completed in groups, so we can practice our respectful and effective language.
We will start with Literature Circles where student groups will choose from a list of District Approved book titles. They will have quiet, focused reading & writing days and also Literature Circle Meeting days where they bring to discussion, questions, connections and observations about why the author does what they do and how the characters think, act & feel, with a focus on Story Elements & Fiction Signposts (mini-lessons).
These book title choices include: Thin Wood Walls, Among the Hidden, March, Sticks and Stones, Tight, Brown Girl Dreaming, One for the Murphys, George, Linked, Rules, Heat, Out of My Mind, Linked, Holes, The Breadwinners & Homeless Bird, Fly on the Wall.
