Colorado State Standards and Grade Level Expectations:
Standard 1: Expression
Perform songs that demonstrate learned rhythmic, melodic, and chordal accompaniment components.
Perform extended notated songs with accurate pitch, rhythm, tone, harmony, and expressive elements. (follow the cues of a director)
Apply teacher and peer critique and self-reflection to refine individual and ensemble technique and performance.
Standard 2: Creation of Music
Compose, improvise, and arrange melody with rhythmic accompaniment. (compose a melody with accompaniment; improvise a melody over accompaniment; arrange an accompaniment to go with a melody)
Standard 3: Theory of Music
Identify and demonstrate complex notated melodic, rhythmic, and harmonic patterns. (whole/half steps; syncopation; I-V, V-I, I-IV-V-I)
