Independent Reading Expectations
1. Read everyday of your life.
You should read at least 30 minutes per day outside of school.
2. Choose a book to read that is "just right."
Your book should not be too easy or too difficult for you. Read the blurb! Use the "five finger rule"
3. Track your thinking as you read.
You can write what you are thinking in your notebook (w/pg. #) or on a sticky note. Use the signposts and thought starters to help you.
4. Find a quiet place where you can read & stay focused.
